Virtual Bass Amp

Posted by Benjamin on November 17, 2008 Filed under: Gear tagged: bass, Markbass, software

I was just about to write a post on bass cabinets, then I saw that Markbass has a plug-in that models all of their amps and a number of their speaker cabinets. The Mark 1 Studio Amp modeling software and digital effects have been popular in the thin-stringed world for a while. Options for bassists have been a little more limited.

Bassically plug into your soundcard/audio interface, load up the Markbass software, and choose an amp, cabinet and mic option. Distributed in the UK by Proel, it cost a couple of hundred pounds and will run on a Mac or a PC. Lots of cabs, with no back ache. A recording studio’s dream. Not something I’ll be using live on stage though!
