Who Would You Hand Your Bass To?
Many thanks to @tucsonbass for bring this one to my attention in his post “Have You Played Victor Wooten’s Bass?” – he saw it on Saudra Williams Facebook page – aren’t the Interwebs a wonderful thing 🙂
The video shows what Victor Wooten’s shows are all about – such energy and fun! Check out about 50 seconds in to the clip. Victor plays guitar, while the guitarist plays his bass, all without swapping instruments. The real fun starts at about 2 mins 40 seconds in as Victor’s bass heads into the crowd…
So, my question to you is – who would you hand your bass to, and why?
And we thought we saw all of the real good Victor videos on You Tube. This reminds me that we need to push the You Tube , or Any Tube search box to the extreme!
Make sure to friend Saundra and Divinity on Facebook, great talents, great ladies. They were such a huge part of the Soul Circus tour in 2005. Hope Vic can recreate that again some day. Nothing like it, and if he does make sure to take everyone. Including grandma, she’ll love it.
Maybe we need a Victor channel? 😉
I’ll check out Saundra and Divinity – do you have a URL for them and their pages?
I’m trying to think who I’ve shared my basses with – I think both Steve Lawson and Norm Stockton have played my MTD and Elrick basses, although only in the safety of the basses home :). The Elrick did the rounds at a ChurchBass meet up – but single cut basses always catch the eye!
Once again, Wooten shows why he’s tops. It’s a very selfless thing to let others play your gear at your own gig. Of course, it’s not like the bass would get stolen, or anyone is going to show VW up. Hell, he looks like he’s watching the other guys to see if he can maybe find yet another technique to mess around with. that is how he stays on top. Never stop learning. Always the student, never the master.
A great show and a great video! I’m not a bass guitar player, but I’m a musician and I can appreciate the cool moments of Wooten’s show. As what about me, I would let anyone to play my instrument but in case that he knows how to do it!
Awesome video! I watch this 11 times) Thanks you a lot!
Who would I hand my bass to? T-Bone Wolk. Bless his soul. I enjoyed watching the man for years on Saturday Night Live, and didn’t even mind him working with Hall & Oates. 🙂 Seriously, though Tom will be missed. The ranks lost a soldier on that one.
This video is amazing as I describe it, I have watched it for many times already and can’t keep on appreciating it!
Victor Woot! Wooten is the man! I’d not only hand my bass to him, I’d let him have it if he asked to. It would be kinda like sacrificing a lamb in the bass world.
I’d hand my bass guitar to anyone who could play and was short of one for a gig. It gives her a break from my quite astonishingly godawful style of playing.
