Solo Bass Christmas Carols

Posted by Benjamin on November 19, 2008 Filed under: bass, News tagged: bass, Carols, Christmas

A very big thanks to Andy Long for bringing this one to my attention: Alun Vaughan has released a very special Christmas treat for bass fans: 10 Christmas carol arrangements for solo bass. These are chordal arrangements for solo bass in notation and tablature. It might seem a little early, but you’ll need time to practice, right? You can get it from http://bassbook.co.uk.

“Basically, for the princely sum of £3 (as I type this, just under $4.50) you get a zip file containing the following in PDF format: Auld Lang Syne, Away In a Manger, Ding Dong Merrily On High/Deck The Halls, In The Bleak Midwinter, Jingle Bells, Joy To The World, O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night, The First Noel… …2 mini lessons: An introduction to natural harmonics and a lesson on the two handed tapping technique used for the arrangement of “Jingle Bells”

Andy also says that you don’t need to be Jaco to have a bash at them. Just think how impressed your guitar and piano playing friends will be :).
